1913 Frost King Ice Cream Maker

    Approximately 8" tall x 4 3/4" wide

Well kind of..this is the inner working from the ice cream machine. It apoears to be from a 1913 4 qt Frost King ice cream maker. The outer portion is a wooden bucket with a hand crank mechanism. (I found images of the outer piece -picture #3 & #4).

So the inner part shown has patent dates from 1911, 12 & 13. It also has the scraper mechanism inside. A neat piece of history.

I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM.. 500 BC!
"The earliest record of ice cream – or at least its closest resemblance – was during the Achaemenid Empire in 500 BC, during the reign of Cyrus the Great in Persia (which is now known as the country of Iran in the Middle East). "
"The early recipe was sweetened ice crushed, mixed with flavors, fruits, and various toppings."

HAIL THE QUEEN... OF ICE CREAM
Ice cream first appeared in England in 1671. A lady named Elias Ashmole described a dish of ice cream served at the Feast of St George in Windsor for Charles II.

ITS GOOD TO BE THE KING!
BUT.. the only table with ice cream was that of the King.

"The first published recipe for ice cream in English came later in 1718, in a book called “Mrs. Mary Eales’s Receipts,” dedicated to confectionery, in London."

This is a recipe from a book by Juana Manuela Gorriti called Eclectic Cooking. Juana Manuela Gorriti Zuviria (Rosario de la Frontera, June 15, 18181-Buenos Aires, November 6, 1892) was an Argentine writer, although she has also become famous for the adventures of her life. I had translated it.
At five in the morning, they fill half of the milk with two tin or zinc jars, the same as those used by milkmen. They are wrapped in sheepskins soaked in water strongly seasoned with saltpeter, or in the absence of this, salt; and placed on the back of a horse, it is made to trot a league, and with the same trot it is brought back. The milk-which care must have been taken to cover very well, adjusting l? The cover of the jar, loose in its container, shakes like the sea in a storm, becoming, like it, foam, which rises, completely filling the void of the jar, at the same time that the ice, taking over it, ends up paralyzing it. Thus, when, after a continuous trot of two leagues, she arrives where she is expected with deep dishes, ready to receive her, the stoppers removed, two waterfalls of frozen foam fill the containers, and season them. with sugar and cinnamon, they go to the table to delight the palate of gourmets, the only tasters worthy of these delicious delicacies.
