I bought this last Friday and was finally able to pick it up today. It was quite an adventure as I had to rent a van as the headboard is 5 feet high. That required driving 25 miles get the van, drive another 25 miles back up the hill (mountain) and then bring the van back and then get my car and drive a final 25 miles back up the hill. Then carry everything up to my house which is 30 feet higher. The only piece that was a challenge is the headboard, my arms are a couple inches longer now..
Anyway beds like this were popular from about 1860 until WWI when metal was needed for war materials. I believe one may call that Victorian age. This would look perfect in a Victorian age mansion and hopefully a log cabin.
The next step is to put it together, yes I have the siderails. Hopefully everything wit fit but that sounds too easy.
Really gorgeous antique bed, the scroll design is so pretty - and I think the cat likes it as well :)
Beautiful wrought iron bed!! Though it was a challenge to get this bed to your house, I'm certain it was well worth all of the trouble.
Great find!! I found one like it years ago under an old barn at an onsite auction in NH years ago. Cleaned it up and repainted it. Wife slept on it for twenty plus years!! Left it with the new owners that brought our shop.
Your right headboard gave me a workout too.

Very nice. Hope it fits where you want it. You went to a lot of effort to get that home. Can't imagine someone in 100 years time going to all that trouble to bring home a 2020s bedframe.
When my father was about to sell the farm, I found my version in the rafters of the garage which I wanted for myself in 1981. Congrats on getting yours and they are wonderful to sleep on !~
Nice and does the cat attach to the bottom bar :)
Thank you very much Newfld. It appears that he does.
Thank you very much Scott. Hopefully I will finish tomorrow.
Thank you very much stuff. I think this still has the original paint plus beautiful rust.
Thank you very much elanski. Probably best the new stuff isn't around that long.

Thank you very much Vynil. The fur will.
