    (927 items)

These items were all found in local op shops last week. All involve glass & all are somewhat obsolete & obscure.
First - a vintage washboard - pressed glass board with a wooden frame. Probably Australian origin, early 20th century.
Second - A set of four green pressed glass piano insulators. I've always wanted to find one of these, but I ended up scoring a full set. Now all I need is the piano (not really, LOL). Most likely English origin, late 19th century.
Third - A pair of mirror glass plateaux with an unusual banana shape. Usually these are circular. I have a few Victorian art glass items which are set on such mirrored bases, but they are round. The condition is worn & rustic, but having never seen anything like them, plus the fact they were ridiculously cheap, how could I pass? I wonder if they were intended to sit ether side of a circular plateau to create a garniture. Most likely English origin, late 19th century.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing and explaining. Never seen the piano insulators before. I'll know to look out for them in the future

      Many thanks, dav2n01!
Yes, the insulators are pretty cool. There's some made with uranium (these aren't) which go for big prices. Got my set for $12. They're heavy & look like very shallow ashtrays or dishes. They could make quite good tealight candle holders, too.
