The Viennese architect Otto Prutscher (1880-1949) is famous for his designs of many 'Art Nouveau' villas, houses, interiors, furnitures, glasswares and ceramics. He designed for the 'Art Deco' exhibition 1925 in Paris a series of vases/decors for Loetz, as shown from a photography taken from the journal of 'Dekorative Kunst: illustrierte Zeitschrift fuer angewandte Kunst. 34 (1925-26) pages 161-171 'Zu den Arbeiten Professor Otto Prutschers'. The associated Loetz 'Musterschnitte' of these vases are, in the top row, PN=III/2390 ,2387, 2385 and in the bottom line PN=III/2420 (shape by M. Powolny), III/2386 and 2389 (1925). All these vases (besides the Powolny one) show an attached black foot. Three of them (top left, bottom middle and right vase) are published in 'Loetz Boehmisches Glas 1880 bis 1940' on pages 274-276. My vase according to PN=III/2385 is, as far as I'm aware of, only known from the above black and white photography and is hereby published in colour, too. Here the body of the 'Thea' inner cased glass vase is covered by horizontal blue/silver bands that are pulled down five times and displaced in three rows. The above mentioned vases were made directly for the personal ownership of Otto Prutscher and the Loetz PN's throughout carry the description 'thea m. blau Silber Phaenom. Arch. Prutscher' and are nowadays accordingly rarely offered. The vases decorated by feathers/bands remind onto the later Loetz Ausf. 227 and 228, which were produced strongly influenced by these designs of Otto Prutscher, but were not designed by himselves. My vase stands H=18.8 cm high and the diameter is D=8.5 cm.
