This is the first of two super finds I made at the bi - monthly antiques fair yesterday.
Spotted this extraordinary vase within a short time of walking in, & had to get it right away!
I've never, ever, seen a vase remotely like this - I mean, there's plenty of Victorian art glass with shaded/spreading colours, mica inclusions & applied feet, but this wild combination is a new one on me entirely.
The vase is made from two layers of cased glass, clear over a light blue that shades to bright pink. There are glittering mica inclusions throughout, & the vase sits on four clear applied feet. It measures an impressive 31 cm tall, 8.3 cm across the oval top rim, & 8.3 cm across the base. There is a fine, vertically ribbed pattern from top to bottom.
The shape is what really makes it magic - a dramatically flared trumpet/bugle shape that it oval at the top rather than round, which tapers down to an extremely narrow "waist". This joins an elongated four lobed lower section (it reminds me of a stretched out capsicum!).
It's truly weird & wonderful all at once. In perfect condition, too.
Could be Bohemian, circa 1880s or so.

The colours and mica and lobes all remind me of items attributed to Harrach. It is fab!! How does it look with your Harrach seaweed?

      Many thanks, Wow22!
Yes, Harrach is a good possibility. It absolutely dwarfs the little Seaweed vase I got at the June fair!

Cheers, Bernard, yes the feet are perfect, still can't quite believe that a piece this complex & delicate is in such good form for its age. Must have really been looked after well!
