This is a rather small piece of glowish glass the size of a 50 sent piece. It is a salt cellar which I believe is for dipping things in salt. I have never seen one used because I don't have old school wealthy friends. Oh wait it for easy seasoning because a saltshaker isn't easy enough.
Boyd Glass has been around since 1978 so the source I saw that said 1950s is wrong. I can tell by the color it is a more recent piece and by more recent I mean less than 100 years old or so. More recent pieces are much brighter in normal light.
It may be possible to see the maker's mark ion photo #3.
Not for dipping food into the salt. There would have been a small glass spoon to use, which would have rested in the slots in the handles.
Thank you very much Johna for explaining that.
