      kev123, Cool.

      The trademark registration certificate:

      https://tsdr.uspto.gov/documentviewer?caseId=sn60044226&docId=ORC20051017161946&linkId=1#docIndex=0&page=1

Allegedly, the name was coined because one could easily can with the jars while talking on the phone:

      https://www.antique-bottles.net/threads/telephone-jars.327377/

Given the styles of telephones in use back in 1905, I have my doubts, but then I personally struggle even to use the USPTO trademark database. };-)
