Stop-Fire Mighty Midget "CBM" Fire Extinguisher
Approximately 7 1/2" tall
Company: Stop Fire Inc.
Model: Mighty Midget
Catalog no: K-40
This is a cool old mini fire extinguisher with a wall bracket. It's made of brass, it's pretty scratched up and the label is damaged, but readable mostly. I cleaned it up a little to make it display better. I verified that it's now empty...had a little remaining gas. The bracket holds the bottle in with pressure. You release the bottle from the bracket by pushing up on the top of the bracket where it's engraved "push". The gas is released by twisting the valve. The last picture I found on the internet and it shows how the bottle can be refilled with a device that was originally included when new.
The active ingredient is CBL also known as Halon 1301. We all are aware the dangers of Halon as it takes away the oxygen when used.
"A halon blend is any mixture or combination of substances that contains two or more halons. Since 1998, it is unlawful to manufacture any halon blend"
Very cool indeed!! Never seen one of these until now and the refill instructions are fascinating. Speaking of halon. In all my years as a technician, I've set off a couple halon detectors when brazing. Though not intentionally:)
Love the ibnstructions too. Nowadays english instructions are hard to find !~
