Hello everybody!!
I don't have many amphibians in my collection, but this little frog paperweight has to be my favorite. It's cast iron and mounted on a block of beautiful white onyx. The fine details of the frog are just amazing. It's experienced a bit of paint loss over the years, but that just gives it a bit of character. I've seen a few of these that have a "RH Co." (Reading Hardware Co.) under the chin of the frog. However, this one doesn't have that marking. Instead, it has a "B" embossed into the left leg on it's underside. So, I'm not sure what the "B" stands for. Could this possibly be a foundry mark? I'm not sure when this paperweight was made, but I've been told this is from the very early 19th century. Without being able to identify the "B" marking, it's difficult for me to be sure. The frog measures 4 1/2" long and 2 5/8". The white onyx base measures 4" ling, 3" wide and 1/2" thick.
Thanks very much for taking time to stop in for a look!!

He's a fine looking frog in a very natural pose, the light color base makes him stand out
Jenni,
Many thanks! I landed this one at a fantastic price. Most all I see are priced well over $400 which is a bit out of my collecting budget!!
