The three waves symbolise "Denmark’s beautiful straits: the Sound, the Great Belt and the Little Belt. For nearly 100 years, these waves were painted by hand, but in the 1870’s the establishment began stamping the mark under the glaze, a tradition that lives on today. This three-waved symbolism has been changed over time, making it possible to date every piece of Royal Copenhagen porcelain."
    http://www.royalcopenhagen.com/about-us/marks/10/2

This site dates the mark on this plate as being post 1023:
"1923 Crown and ROYAL COPENHAGEN stamp in green under the glaze, blue wave mark, applied since 1923".

There is a dot under the G of Copenhagen.which will date it to a period of 1969-1974.

    "Backstamps since 1935
Almost every piece of our quality porcelain made since 1935 can actually be dated by its green dots stamped on every piece, either above or below a letter in our company name. For instance, the green dot is placed just above the first letter in the company name – R – on products made in the year 1935.
By 1949, the dots have made it all the way through the company’s name, and therefore the dot is now below the letter R in 1950. Please follow the pictures below to track your Royal Copenhagen porcelain."

The artists signature is "ZN". I have not been able to track down this artist.
If you can help with the identity I would appreciate it!

    Width: 22 cm or 8.7".

The plates are made that way for hanging cobaltcolbold. Perhaps they are pierced with something that is burnt out in the kiln. I had not thought of it. Thanks.
And thanks to you toracat for that vase by ZN. I found a similar one here in Sydney.
