Well ... it's getting warmer and the snow is slowly disappearing (for those of us in the upper Midwest) ... so all those fancy cars should be hitting the roads soon. Then again, pictures of fancy cars is about all I can offer here. A while back I posted a 1950 Guinness Advertising Study of a Jaguar; so it's time for another image.

This is another beautiful rendering / advertising study, this time of a 1947 Rolls Royce Phantom III. Imagine owning or even seeing this car in real life; the lines and colors are gorgeous.

Guinness (yes ... the folks who brew that marvelous stout) dabbled in a variety of advertising themes (e.g. Guinness for Strength, My Goodness My Guinness, etc.) and, IMO, their 'golden years' of creativity ran from the 1930s to the 1960s. What's interesting is in the 1950s, Guinness' advertising agency, S.H. Benson, did numerous studies tying their brand to various automobiles. These studies are practically unknown to Guinness collectors. In fact, there was a project started to create a calendar depicting a different car each month. I saw the presentation folio which still had 9 of the 12 paintings. Unfortunately it was simply to too pricey to acquire and I'll probably regret that decision in the future.

Thanks, Sean ... I know what you mean. If you think about it, there are quite a few CW folks in the Midwest and I assume everyone is ready for some green and warmth. Have a scotch for me ... I'm having one in a bit. :)

Rob, I have posted some pictures of the less exotic designs that British coachbuilders were producing around the same time.
