I found this clock a few weeks ago for dirt cheap. I would love to know more about it, I know it is German...around WWII era??? It is in good shape, all feet are there, just have to get the right key to wind it. Anyone who could help I would appreciate it!!
Your clock is by Hamburg Amerikanische Uhrenfabrik
Germany
1876 – 1883 Landenburger and Lang.
1883 – 1930 HAU/HAC (merger with Junghans 1926)
Probably an 8-day time and strike movement. The case style is called a "Tambour" which was very popular in the 1920-40s
That's a very nice looking clock. I bet the large spiral gong sounds great.
If you measure the winding arbors I can tell you want size key is needed. It looks like you just need a single-ended key as the clock is regulated by the rating nut on the pendulum bob.
Do you have much experience with this type of antique mechanical clock?
In my idea an Art Deco style clock. Indeed German, we see those old clocks at lot of times in Europe.
These clocks are well made. HAC was big clock manufacturer mainly to the exporting US market. Two crossed arrows are HAC trademark if you find this mark in your clock it is HAC.
Thanks to bruce99, agram.m, and vintage_joe for helping me ID the clock. Thank you pw-collector, kerry, vintagejoe, bruce and mustang.
Bruce99 to answer your question, I have no experience with clocks. It was so dirt cheap and it looked to me in workable condition. If worst comes to worst I will just keep it. I will look into what you mentioned. Thanks!!!
