Hello Again,
And here is the Owl.
The diminutive size increases the thrill of it's detail.
After looking it over with a loupe I believe that it is a genuine carving.
I don't know what it's carved from, but I don't detect a grain.
Signed on the underside
I hope that someone on here knows something about this exquisite little piece.
Thanks lots,
Tonino.
p.s., looking at the photos I noticed how beautifully balanced it is.
Incredible workmanship! I Love it !!!!
Thanks for the loves Kevin and musikchoo

Think about bone for a minute... Bones are hollow, right?
There are no animal bones that could be this thick
Its definitely a chunk of ivory
Sometimes Schreger lines are not visible, especially when the entire surface is painted, or when its from the inner portion of the tusk.
Look with your loupe, you'll probably find the grain sooner or later
Its just a little Japanese okimono, they make lots of small animals like this out of various materials. Very collectible
Thanks for all of the information, Stillwater!
