A lot of these were manufactured and still survive today. Plain black Bakelite is less desirable. Coloured Bakelite phones obtain higher dollar value. Your best bet is to watch a few eBay auctions ...
Its a fiddleback type phone and is pictured upside down. Its hard to tell from the photo but it might be a Vought (or Vote) Berger. It would probably be from around 1905ish.

Try adjusting the bias spring on the ringer. Its the thin bare wire that sits in one of two grooves. Move it to the other groove and see if the phone rings.
