Irish it appears he had a keen eye for collectables.
I just looked again at this way cool lamp, do I now notice that it also has red and green "port" & "starboard" side-lights -- that's even SO MUCH more cool if so?!!
Thanks fhrjr2, Dad was not a regular collector but every now and then he would see something he liked and pick it up. and had a particular liking for brass blow torches.
AnythingObscure, you are right about the side lights. One of them is hinged and opens down, I presume to allow the user to light the lamp with a match, although the front glass also hinges open for lighting.
