Made a pilgrimage to Bakersfield today as I heard the diner will be closed from 6 months to a year. The owner of the building will be doing something to the first floor where the diner is. Sunday will be the last day so I had to go today. Luckily there are several antique malls nearby.
I think the photos are self explanatory aside from the last one. Those are the stairs to the basement which is a large space. Plus the restrooms are down there.
I have more photos should there be interest.
It is a blast from the past for me....I can remember the Woolworth store.

Well I never, Ive been convinced that Woolies was English but just looked it up and they started in New York in 1879 and Britains Woolworths finished in January 2009. Ahh end of an era. Neil

When I was a child, my mother used to take me to a Woolworth's diner in Ottawa, Canada for a light meal during shopping trips. That Woolworth's store has been gone many years now, but this took me back thanks to your great photos! Thank you.
I remember the Woolworths in Santa Barbara on State Street. My Mother would shop and I got to sit and have a grilled cheese.
