This is a Marx kit from the 1960s or whenever the US had had 36 presidents. Along with the capital kit it also came with figures of the presidents but I am just posting the building here. The presidents will come later.
This is a large kit at 22" across and almost 10" tall. It is a snap together kit although some pieces have been glued which is normal for a snap together kit. Unfortunately a couple pieces weren't quite as carefully placed but it is kids' set, which are now collected by adults.
I like how the plastic has aged and added some color, it was lighter originally.
I have some boxes full of stuff to post plus some stuff I have completely forgotten about so there should be an exciting new item tomorrow.
Fantastic model of the Capitol!!
Thank you very much Scott.
In the 1960 campaign, Lyndon B. Johnson was elected Vice President as John F. Kennedy's running mate. On November 22, 1963, when Kennedy was assassinated, Johnson was sworn in as the 36th United States President, with a vision to build “A Great Society” for the American people.
Thank you very much Trey. I know what you mean.
My grandfather Percy gave this to me, must have been in 1961 or 62. I put the set together, but must have been told to leave it at his place. He died of a heart attack soon after ant the kit, never painted got lost in all that confusion following death and downsizing, as my grandmother had to move, the house was a benefit of his job, and lost with his death.
This is what I remember, this kit. I loved putting it together. I loved my grandfather. Thank you for posting it
