This is the second of two Art Nouveau vases that I won on eBay AU last week. Once again, I was the sole bidder!
The vase is made from a single layer of green glass, which contains uranium & glows brightly under UV light. That was a nice surprise as the seller had not mentioned uranium content. It measures 8 cm tall, 8.5 cm across the neatly polished top rim, & 5 cm across the base. The striking decor consists of swirling iridescent stripes that wind around the squat, melon - ribbed form & meet in a spiral on the base.
Bohemian, circa 1900. I believe that this is an example of the decor Silver Stripe Twisted by Kralik.
very beautiful
I have a taller vase like this one and never gave a thought about checking to see if it was UV reactive. The color seems darker than normal for UV reactive glass. So, after reading this, I grabbed my light and went and checked. Sure enough it glowed. Great find.
Many thanks, kivatinitz!
Thanks also, jimtim - & glad to have helped you discover an extra dimension to your vase as well!
Kill me now Marin!
If I saw this, in my ignorance, I would have thought a floristry vase.
Bohemian Philistine.....
LOL Karen!
I've spent, & continue to spend a mind - boggling amount of time looking at Bohemian glass online so I can ID it "in the wild", & that helps a lot! When I saw this I thought "Kralik" & then had a whole week of worrying that everyone else saw it too...
Beautiful!
Many thanks, vintagelamp!

Thanks also, ehunt!
