1914 Gilchrist Ice Cream Scoop Model 30

Approximately 10" long, scoop inside diameter 2"

Scoop is marked 20(Thanks to string-of-pearls for spotting that..good eyes!)

I finally made it back to pick this up. As you remember I recently posted the 1910 Gilchrist scoop. This one has the squeeze handle.

    GILCHRIST COMPANY
"The Gilchrist Co. was a maker of ice cream scoops from 1906 to 1931. The company was originally a maker of hardware items sold to the day's soda fountains. The Gilchrist company quickly became a dominant competitor in the ice cream scoop business during these 25 years."

    MODEL 30
"This all-metal offering was the only squeeze handle type scoop offered by Gilchrist. It was quite robust, and many can be found today.
The model 30 was made in sizes 6,8,10,12,16,20,30,40.

The patent request was filed in 1907 but not issued until 1914."

Such a nice scoop. It’ll be serving ice cream for many more years. You probably noticed but I’ll just mention it’s size 20 (20 scoops per quart), stamped on the scraper.

Loved using it, serving ice cream as a casual at Coles here in Sydney in the 60’s on the sweets counter. The woman who normally ran that area had a one hour lunch break and sometimes I got to move out of hardware and into her realm.
