A new pic today is a lightning rod weathervane with the north, south, east and west directional bracket. A full bodied horse still attached to the weather vane and the ball sitting on top of the directional bracket. The weathervane is 30 inches long and from the top of the finial to the floor is 32 inches. Rooftops were their home for many many years and a lot of barns are being torn down and the weathervanes are not being replaced. A very nice old original lightning rod weathervane with the directional bracket and horse. It looks like throughout the years someone has repainted it silver several times and someone gave it a little red color on the tip of the vain. Just a great piece of history that some people have never seen. I would say that it’s from the late 1890’s to the early 1900’s.
