Can somebody tell me more of this medal? Since I am from a post WWII generation, i wondered what this medal is for. What I know is, that the Allied forces in WWII with a.o. General Patton fought one of the most crucial battles in the Ardennes in Belgium. The battle of Bastogne.
There must be veterans or descendants that can tell me the story behind this medal. I'm an old man and kept this medal my whole life as a remembrance in the post war Europe, where I grew up. But never found the medal's purpose.
My guess..it looks like a military vehicle badge that would be on the grill to identify Allied personnel?
There's a museum you can contact..

One posted on Etsy identified as a WW2 veteran car grille badge.
Will try and post link later.

I am thinking it is something for the veterans of the battle, probably not military issue. Military medals or more generic like a bronze star and so on.
These stars come in at least 2 sizes, both in my collection. Both have two long screw posts on the back. They are enameled and convex in shape. They look like they could have been mounted on an old American helmet. The museum staff in Bastogne has no idea as to what these are. I have posted these on some military collector sites and no one there had any ideas. I wonder if Bastogne has a "sister city" somewhere in the USA where they had a high school or college ROTC unit that might have used these on their parade helmets. My dad was a Bastogne veteran and he has never seen these before.
