These were sold at Target in 1998 and somehow I missed that. I was buying Ultimate Soldier figures there and I lived almost next door to Target. II lived next to a Grocery store and then across the street was Target. And somehow I missed that.
The set came with an excellent reproduction GI Joe. I would say better than the later 40th anniversary figure. There was also a footlocker full of gear that was about a 90% reproduction of the original accessories. There are a few differences like the M1 Carbine has a 15 round magazine instead of the 30 round magazine of the original. This one is actually more accurate to the real deal. The Footlocker itself is flush finished and the originals are not. But it is all close enough for me.
I made the figure into an officer of sorts. Could be a sergeant. He will be the vehicle commander for my M3 Scout Car.
A great full and complete foot locker, even if it is a new one.
Mr Jingles needs to practice hiding a bit more. I can see him in the 2nd picture.
MrJingles was probably eyeing that set like it was a box of chocolates….he’d take a nibble of each but likely would decide on the helmet for it’s nice rolling potential and ease of batting it under furniture where you’ll never find it.
