Hello again! Well, another year of searching for my Grampa's "City of Boston Hackney Carriage Driver" badge #2377 (circa 1919) has gone by without success. My collection has grown to about 40 badges. I really love to research the badges I own to get an idea of who wore these badges over the years, although the records are tough to come by. Grampa owned a horse & wagon/buggy/or the like and had a "permit to operate a Hackney Carriage Stand" on Bennington St., East Boston, MA from about 1919 until about 1929, after which time the horse & buggy trade took a beating due to the automobile as well as the Depression. He then was employed as a Chauffeur for a funeral parlor in Boston. If anybody reading this has any leads, info. or clues for me to follow up on, please let me know. Any help will be so much appreciated! My best regards, Jim Ross, Jr. Wakefield, MA
Great story and journey. Have you tried contacting the Boston historical society? They made have clues or might know specific collectors in the area..
