Military ID Group WWII - 1960

Picked up a lot of military paper pieces from an antique dealers garage sale. I hate to see these items just laying around. I've started searching for family members so I can return these items to the family. I'm currently waiting to hear back from one possible relative.

This lot consists of eight pieces dating from 1943 to 1960. Including two very interesting and historic cards.

Active Menber NCO card

1951 USMC Service Cards - interesting they are both the same issue year, but looks like one is a mistake and has the wrong start date..one says 1956 and the other says 1950.

1952 US Forces Japan ID card - This one shows he's associated with the Marine Aircraft Group(MAG-11), 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Fleet Marine Force, MABS-11

1946 USMC Camp Lejeune Motor Vehicle Operators Permit

1960 Armory Receipt for the return of his M1 service rifle. I'm sure that rifle is out there and someone would love this piece of history.

1953 Domain Of The Golden Dragon -Ruler of the 180th Meridian - This is an interesting find.
"The Domain of the Golden Dragon Certificate is a commemorative certificate for crossing the 180th Meridian, also known as the International Date Line."

1943 Solemn Mysterys Of the Ancient Order of the Deep card. Now this is really interesting because it's from the USS Lurline, Matson Steam- Ship Co.

The SS Lurline was the last of four fast luxurious ocean liners that Matson Lines built for the Hawaii and Australasia runs from the West Coast of the United States.

"Lurline served as a troopship in World War II operated by War Shipping Administration agents serving Army troop transport requirements."

AMELIA EARHART ON DECK
"Aviator Amelia Earhart was carried by Lurline from Los Angeles to Honolulu with her Lockheed Vega airplane secured on deck during December 22–27, 1934. The voyage prepared her for the record-breaking Honolulu-to-Oakland solo flight she made in January 1935."

PEAR HARBOR
When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, the Lurline was halfway from Honolulu to San Francisco on 7 December 1941, carrying a record load of 765 passengers.

"The ship's alleged reception of radio signals from the Japanese fleet became part of the Pearl Harbor advance-knowledge conspiracy theory."

"The ship arrived safely on December 10, travelling in a zigzag path under radio silence and blacked out at night, and soon returned to Hawaii with her Matson sisters Mariposa and Monterey in a convoy laden with troops and supplies."

The ship spent the war years transporting troops and supplies, and even transported the Australian Prime Minister John Curtin to America to confer with President Roosevelt. They were always at risk and were lucky enough to be missed by a torpedo strike. A Royal Australian Air Force trainee pilot was on watch without proper training and didn't recognize the line of bubbles heading towards the ship.
