This was a really awesome find, too bad it was missing one spool. I thought about using it but decided against it. I’m now on the lookout for a spool to replace the missing one.

      strangemodegirl, Cool. :-)

I agree with dave2no1 about the graphics.

Google Lens yielded some relatives of your thread box:

      https://www.historicnewengland.org/explore/collections-access/gusn/253254/

The name Willimantic made me say, "Wut," so I was obliged to do some more looking around, and turned up this interesting piece:

      https://connecticuthistory.org/willimantics-american-thread-plant-a-multinational-corporate-takeover/

So while the text on the box indicates a New York, NY company, the imagery is of the mill buildings in Willimantic, CT:

More about the frog bridge sculptures, and an alternate explanation for all the dead frogs:

So in the 1st link in Kera's post #5 they mention the American Thread Company.

Kera & Stuff..Thanks for pointing out the frog battle..very amusing story.

      dav2no1, You're welcome. :-)

Yeah, I thought that frog battle was both amusing (because of the hypervigilant humans) -- and poignant (because of all those poor dead frogs surrounding a drought-stricken pond).

Thanks for mentioning the American Thread Company connection with Willimantic, because I didn't excerpt it from the linked piece, so it isn't obvious to anybody who doesn't read the it.
