I picked this item up because I was curious about it. It was only $2.99 so I figured I'd try it to sell it. However, I can't find its age where it is made or anything about it online. Does anybody have any idea of what this is? Thank you!
Here's one in red..

Yeah I saw that too but doesn't give me any info on age or anything. This one has no wires. It is just like a toy
That number on the bottom ("1017437") is a British design patent from 1984 (I'm exerpting the some of the output from the UK design patent lookup interface here, because I'm not sure that the link is a permalink):

I think i see a coin slot under the phone handle, isnt this a piggy bank?
Lata, I think you're onto something. I see that slot underneath the phone handle, too. I also see it on the one dav2no1 linked.
Moreover, on the one in this post, there's that yellow 'plug' labeled "open." If there aren't any mechanisms or electronics in that slotted compartment, then why would anybody need to open it? Yup, a coin bank.
Although, the one dav2no1 linked says that it's functional on modern phone lines. Hmmm.
