World War Two Blackout Air Raid Lantern

This is one of those items I should have done a "can guess what this is?". As the title may suggest this is a light for use during air raids. According to the only source I found for this it is US although I don't see any markings on it. There were very few air raids in the US although my grandfather was in the civil defense force at that time.
Both ends open and it comes with removable fresnel lenses plus some colored pieces. Red would probably be the most common one used. I have an aqua one in there currently. You can but a lens at each end and close one or both. It has screw mount on the side which may be for mounting on a vehicle.
Took a couple days off to organize. Looks like all I need to do is build a spare room.
