What a Find, these Marbles were Today 11/16/2024 at the Flea Market! Actually, I was checking the old Money Bag out, and when I saw that there was Marbles in it instead of Coins, I asked the Seller How much for the Bag and Marbles, and I couldn't refuse what He wanted for them! I know a little about Marbles, but all I really saw was the large one, and what looked like a Bennington Pottery type, and didn't look further, until I poured them out in the back of my car (1st Pic.) and what a Surprise, many antique looking Marbles! After I got home, I sorted them the best that I could, but really knowing the different types, more but the way they looked! Looks like over 100 I didn't count! :^D
Thank You for Looking, all comments and any information on this Post, is Welcome and Appreciated! Bill :^)

Wow, these are great - you got a good deal, Bill!
The swirled latticino ones are very sought after in particular. (I'm not a marble expert by any means but I've picked up a few here & there over the years.)

Very nice purchase. A nice lot with quite a few German Handmade marbles. There are some American Slags. Nice Fancy Bennington's and maybe a few Mica's on the end. Awesome find!!!!

Thank You Marin, I looked at some that look Like some of These, and some are very Pricey, but I'll have to find and take them to someone that can give me an idea of what they might be worth! Bill :^D

Thanks ehunt, for a little insight, I'll look for those Names that You said, to see which ones they are, I have an idea about some of Them, I'll have to find my Marble Book, it might be easier to fine an Expert! Bill :^D

Nice find! Make sure you hit them with some UV in case there's some uranium glass.

      billretirecoll, Marbles! <3

My father would have loved this, as he was an inveterate marbles player as a child. He said that his knuckles were perennially crusty and brown.

There's a small statue of a child playing marbles in the SFBA. Somebody posted a closeup on flickr:

      *snip*

This is a statue of a boy playing marbles; I think, from memory, that it's out in front of the Kaiser Permanente building, but couldn't swear to it. From other angles, the boy's butt sticking up in the air is less... savoury. And you look strange taking a shot from the boy's arse, quite frankly.

Yeah, I guess you can see where a man might feel a bit wary about taking too many pictures of this statue. };-)

I can confirm that the statue is in front of the Kaiser Permanente building in Mountain View, because I've seen it in person.

Unfortunately, you can't really get a decent image of it from Google Street View, because it's in front of a window in the recessed area by the main building entrance:

Thanks keramikos, for Your Story and the link! Yea I played more than a few games of Marbles, as a kid, back in Elementary school, in Concord, California, and I still have a few of those Marbles, but they are only 60+ years old. not 140, like the ones Here are! Bill :^D

Thank You Mike, for the love, and keramikos, because I know that You just forgot to click love! Bill :^)
