Excellent find while I was at my local thrift. This piece I believed at the time to be Arita, actually maybe a piece of Kangxi period porcelain. The charger has scalloped edges, and a wonderful blue coloring. The back has a six-character Chenghua marking. I know the piece isn’t Chenghua period or Ming. I looked under a UV light for signs of repair or restorations. None could be found and the porcelain glowed a cloudy green. There is a lot of “heaped and piled” cobalt throughout the piece. It’s a large piece at 13” in diameter. This piece was actually gifted to me by either an employee or someone in the holiday spirit because even I was taken back by act of kindness.
my opinion is not of any signaficance , because i lack the skill ,
some sort of DAI MIN SEI KA NEN SEI--in underglaze blue
kilnspurs reverse are promising because they are out of alignment are partly inside dimpling
as a layman the amount of kilnspurs got some indication
at the brink of meijji they diminish the kilnspurs to a lesser amount to sometimes to even 1
reverse ( THIN) KARAKUSA could be sound
the scene could be not too significant because it also appears in the 19 th century
IMO it is strange that it technically is, not sapphire blue or cobalt blue , it got an dark blue purple afterglaring
as an absolute layman !!! it could be something like 1760-1790, but i state BS all the time
anyway - nice piece - well done-- WAKI
