Geranium Vase by Zsolnay
Hungary, circa 1900
9" high
Zsolnay was one of the widely acclaimed Art Nouveau ceramics manufactories, winning awards at the world expositions of their day. They are still in business, but like some other potteries, their best work ended with the Art Nouveau era. This vase has the renowned Zsolnay eosin glaze which is iridescent and changes as the day's light ebbs and flows.
It has the raised, round five steeples mark.
Fantastic!
Ditto! with AmberRose!...:-)

That red is amazing!
Thank you for the comments and loves. I'll work on getting better photos posted.
I added new photos that were taken in natural light.
Loving it more!
I'm with Amber! It keeps getting better!
beautifull eosin vase thanx for sharing!
"I suppose all these people know better than I.
It was silly, perhaps, but I did like the view
Of geraniums (red) and delphiniums (blue)."
i love the way those complex and unusual colors of the pelargonium leaves were captured - even the texture sort of...
My initial reaction was "What a wonderful Glass Vase and what colors!" but to find out it's Zsolnay pottery....I am amazed!! RER (LOUMANAL)

beautiful piece...
WOW! This looks Fantastic
I posted a better photo.
i can't believe how beautiful this is!! wasn't there a very big 'red geranium' craze in Germany around 1930?
Thanks for the compliment, ho2cultcha. I don't know much about Germany so I can't answer your question about a geranium craze around 1930. Apparently, Zsolnay of Hungary thought the geranium was worthy of a vase around 1900.
Beautiful...Geranium's at their best.
Stunning!!!
Thank you, martika.
