A friend showed me this item the other day. Referred to it as a pepperbox gun. Unusual to me. I didn't write down the manufacturer. I didn't know there was such a thing as 38 rimfire. Anyone familiar with this type of firearm?
similar 4-barrel noted as European

Cool piece! Don't have any in my collection, maybe someday.
Pepperboxes were invented about 1830 and were popular early 19th century. .38 rimfire came in around 1870, used in a lot of guns. They made a short, long and extra long version. I just sold a lot of antique/ obsolete ammo or I would've posted some
**popular to early 1900s**
In case you were wondering..
"The Colt Paterson revolver was the first practical revolving-cylinder handgun ever made. Invented by Samuel Colt in 1831 and patented in 1836."
And
"The Colt Model 1889 was the first double-action revolver with a swing-out cylinder, released by a sliding latch."
