As promised something I just acquired. This is a first edition Chief Cherokee from the Johnny West series of figures made by Marx Toys. There are two differences between this version and the later ones. The first edition version is on the left with the eagle feather headband and the later version is on the right with the buffalo headdress.
The first difference is the older version has a different and more detailed torso. When Geronimo was introduced in 1967 both figures switched to the Geronimo style torso. I do not know why.
Next the original had hands that were more open. The newer hands were better designed for holding, especially firearms. The hands are ambidextrous znd are much better at handling the various accessories that came with the Indian figures.
These figures are fragile so I think I may need to keep it in a vault in the basement. Or just glue him together after he falls apart.
